Maori Language

We are learning about the marae, carvings, patterns in maori carvings and paintings and the people that live on a marae. We have practiced drawing maori patterns.

Charlottes Web

Because we were working well and we are learning about spiders we got to watch the dvd Chalottes Web.

Aliens (Update)

We were read a story called Here comes the Aliens. On paper we painted the alien then we outlined the alien using pastels. We got to name our aliens.

Art Deco

We have been learning about art deco. We have studied the patterns. We designed someof our own patterns.

Learning in Room 15

Napier Earthquake

We learnt that:
- over 260 people died.

- the fires caused most of the damage.

- the clock tower leaned over 2 feet.

- the Napier Hill and the land around it rose two metres.



Learning Conferences
We had our learning conferences this week. We shared our learning with our parents. We shared our writing, managing self and some learning of our own choice. We were a little nervous but the conferences went well but we were pleased when they were over.

We have a learning intentions board so we know what we are learning and why.







Funday
If we colour in all the pieces of the star we get to have a fun day.

Alien Artwork
We read a book about aliens and thought it would be good to draw some of our own. We used crayon, paint and dye.







Our Places: Art Deco Trip
We went to the Discovery Education Centre. We were read a story about an earthquake and watched a film about the earthquake that happened in Napier. We went on Art Deco walk and looked at the patterns.









Quilt: About Ourselves
We had to draw our favourite animal, place, food drink, pet and we drew a picture of our family.








Learning Buddies
We are learning to be a "Learning Buddy". We give feed back to our buddys learning. We have been practicing during oral language.

Our Learning

The swimming carnival was great fun. We practiced what we had learnt, during our swimming lessons, at the carnival.

We are learning to take pride in our local and wider communities.

We are learning to sketch, draw, and use pastel/paint to make a self portrait. We can put the eyes half way down the face and include all the main features - eyes, ears, nose and mouth.

We were learning to plan and carry out a statistical investigation. We collected information and drew a bar graph.
